She was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.)1 She was educated at South Hampstead High School, Hampstead, London, EnglandG.2 She was educated at London School of Economics, London, EnglandG.2 From December 1939, her married name became Birk.3 She wrote the book A Family Service.3 She wrote the book A Family Court.3 She held the office of Member of Finchley Borough Council between 1950 and 1953.3 She held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) in 1952.1 She was created Baroness Birk, of Regent's Park in Greater London [U.K. Life Peer] on 15 September 1967.1

Edward Burnell, 1st and last Lord Burnell was born circa 1282.1 He was the son of Sir Philip Burnell and Maud FitzAlan.1 He married Aline le Despenser, daughter of Hugh le Despenser, 1st and last Earl of Winchester and Isabella de Beauchamp, after 3 May 1302.1 He died in 1315.1
On 6 December 1307 he had seisin of his lands.1 He was created 1st Lord Burnell [England by writ] on 19 December 1311.1
On his death, his Barony would have become extinct.1
