Willem Boissevain was born on 7 July 1849 at Amsterdam, The Netherlands.2 He was the son of Eduard Constantin Boissevain and Emma Nicholls.2 He married, firstly, Cecilia Henriette Catherina Nugent, daughter of George Thomas John Nugent, 1st and last Marquess of Westmeath and Josephine Marie Touret, on 13 April 1871 at London, England.2 He married, secondly, Mathilde Margaretha Cornelia de Geer, daughter of Dr. Barthold Jacob Lintelo Baron de Geer and Cornelia Anna Alexandrina Louisa van Asch van Wijck, on 6 May 1889 at Utrecht, The Netherlands.2 He died on 12 June 1925 at age 75 at Hilversum, The Netherlands.2
