Rt. Hon. Sir Edward Mervyn Archdale, 1st Bt. was born on 26 January 1853.1 He was the son of Nicholas Montgomery Archdale and Adelaide Mary Porter.1 He married Alicia Bland Fleming, daughter of Quintin Fleming, on 10 June 1880.1 He died on 1 November 1943 at age 90.
He held the office of High Sheriff of County Fermanagh in 1884.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for North Fermanagh between 1898 and 1903.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in the Royal Navy.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for North Fermanagh between 1916 and 1922.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] in 1921.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Tyrone and Fermanagh between 1921 and 1929.1 He held the office of Minister of Agriculture [Northern Ireland] between 1921 and 1933.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Northern Ireland] in 1922.1 He gained the title of 1st Baronet Archdale, of Riversdale, co. Fermanagh [U.K.] on 25 June 1928.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Enniskillen [Northern Ireland] between 1929 and 1943.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Fermanagh.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Fermanagh.1
