Nicholas Ridley, Baron Ridley of Liddesdale was born on 17 February 1929.2 He was the son of Matthew White Ridley, 3rd Viscount Ridley and Ursula Lutyens.2 He married, firstly, Hon. Clayre Campbell, daughter of Brigadier Alastair Campbell, 4th Baron Stratheden of Cupar and Campbell of St. Andrews and Jean Helen St. Clair Anstruther-Gray, on 17 August 1950.3 He and Hon. Clayre Campbell were divorced in 1974.4 He married, secondly, Judith Mary Augustine Kendall, daughter of Dr. Ernest Kendall, on 16 February 1979.4 He died on 4 March 1993 at age 64.1
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.2 He was educated at Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the York and Lancaster Regiment.2 He was registered as a Associate Member, Institution of Civil Engineers (A.M.I.C.E.)2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Cirencester between 1959 and 1992.4 He held the office of Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office between 1979 and 1981.4 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1983.4 He held the office of Minister of State, Transport between 1983 and 1986.4 He held the office of Minister of State, Environment between 1986 and 1989.4 He held the office of Minister of State, Trade and Industry between 1989 and 1990.4 He wrote the book My Style of Government: the Thatcher years, published 1991.4 He was created Baron Ridley of Liddesdale, of Willimontswick in the County of Northumberland [U.K. Life Peer] on 28 July 1992.1

Maria Eden1

Maria Eden was born circa 1770.1 She was the daughter of Sir John Eden, 4th Bt. and Dorothea Johnson.1 She married, firstly, Frederik Willem van Reede, 6th Earl of Athlone, son of Frederik Christiaan Reinhart van Reede, 5th Earl of Athlone and Anna Elisabeth Christina van Tuyll van Serooskerken, on 11 November 1800 at Windlestone, County Durham, EnglandG.1 She married, secondly, Vice-Admiral Sir William Johnstone Hope, son of John Hope and Mary Breton, on 30 October 1821.1 She died on 5 March 1851 at South Street, Grosvenor Square, London, EnglandG, without issue.1
From 11 November 1800, her married name became van Reede.1 After her marriage, Maria Eden was styled as Countess of Athlone on 13 December 1808. She gained the title of Dowager Countess of Athlone on 5 December 1810. From 30 October 1821, her married name became Johnstone Hope.

Lady Frances Augusta Eliza Pierrepont was the daughter of Charles Pierrepont, 1st Earl Manvers and Anne Orton Mills.2,1 She married, firstly, Vice-Admiral William Bentinck, son of Captain John Albert Bentinck and Reniera van Tuyll van Serooskerken, on 20 October 1802.1 She married, secondly, Henry William Stephens on 30 July 1821.1 She died on 10 February 1847.1
From 20 October 1802, her married name became Bentinck. From 30 July 1821, her married name became Stephens.
