He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.)1 He graduated with a Doctor of Divinity (D.D.)1 He also had five daughters.1

Sir Edmund Charles Workman-Macnaghten, 2nd Bt. was born on 1 April 1790.2 He was the son of Sir Francis Workman-Macnaghten, 1st Bt. and Letitia Dunkin.3 He married Mary Anne Gwatkin, daughter of Edward Gwatkin, on 17 May 1827.2 He died on 6 January 1876 at age 85.2
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Antrim.2 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Macnaghten, of Dundarave, co. Antrim [U.K., 1836] on 22 November 1843.4 He lived at Dundarave, County Antrim, Ireland.2
