Edward George William Tyrwhitt Knollys, 2nd Viscount Knollys was born on 16 January 1895.2 He was the son of Francis Knollys, 1st Viscount Knollys and Hon. Arden Mary Tyrwhitt.2 He married Margaret Mary Josephine Coats, daughter of Sir Stuart Auchincloss Coats, 2nd Bt. and Jane Muir Greenlees, on 11 October 1928.1 He died on 3 December 1966 at age 71.2
He was Page of Honour to HM Edward VII between 1904 and 1910.2 He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, England.2 He was Page of Honour to HM George V between 1910 and 1911.2 He fought in the First World War.2 He gained the rank of Captain in the 16th Battalion, London Regiment (Territorial Army) and Royal Air Force.2 He was educated at New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.2 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre.2 He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (D.F.C.)2 He was director of Barclays Bank.2 He was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.)2 He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount Knollys, of Caversham, co.
