He was awarded the Royal Humane Society Medal on 12 August 1886 for saving a life on Lake Geneva.3 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1896 in the Colonel Plumer's force in charge of Maxim guns, Royal Artillery, in Rhodesia.3 He fought in the Boer War, where he became a POW, and was mentioned in despatches.3 He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Field Artillery.3 He fought in the First World War.3 He lived at Harare, ZimbabweG.

Nigel George Paulet, 18th Marquess of Winchester was born on 23 December 1941.1 He was the son of George Cecil Paulet and Hazel Margaret Wheeler.2 He married Rosemary Anne Hilton, daughter of Major Aubrey John Hilton, on 25 November 1967.1 He died on 8 April 2016 at age 74.
He succeeded as the 18th Earl of Wiltshire [E., 1550] on 5 March 1968.2 He succeeded as the 18th Marquess of Winchester [E., 1551] on 5 March 1968.2 He succeeded as the 18th Baron St. John [E., 1539] on 5 March 1968.2 He was director of Rhodesia Mineral Ventures (Pvt) Ltd, Sani-Dn Services (Pvt) Ltd and Rhodesia Mineral Ventures (1969) (Pvt) Ltd.1 He lived in 2003 at 6A Main Road, Irene, Transvaal, South Africa.1

Rosemary Anne Hilton was born on 29 March 1946.1 She was the daughter of Major Aubrey John Hilton.2 She married Nigel George Paulet, 18th Marquess of Winchester, son of George Cecil Paulet and Hazel Margaret Wheeler, on 25 November 1967.2 She died on 25 February 2019 at age 72.
Her married name became Paulet. After her marriage, Rosemary Anne Hilton was styled as Marchioness of Winchester on 5 March 1968.
