John Archdale1

John Archdale was born circa 1642.1 He was the son of Thomas Archdale and Mary Nevill.1 He married Anne Cary.1 He was buried on 4 July 1717.1
He emigrated to New England, U.S.A.G, arriving in 1664 with his brother-in-law Ferdinando Gorges.1 He returned home, to England arriving in 1674.1 He became a Quaker.1 He emigrated to North Carolina, U.S.A.G, arriving in 1686 and became a Lord Proprietor of the colony.1 He held the office of Commissioner of Gorges in the Maine government from 1687 to 1688.1 He held the office of Governor of North Carolina between 1695 and 1697.1 He returned to England.1 He was elected to the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for High Wycombe in 1698, but he was deprived of his seat on refusing the oath.1 He published the book _Descriptions of Carolina in 1707.1

Captain Thomas Archdale1

Captain Thomas Archdale was born circa 1675.1 He was the son of John Archdale and Anne Cary.1 He married Jane Turner, daughter of Charles Turner, circa 1700.1 He died on 9 August 1711, before his father.1
He was educated at Wadham College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for High Wycombe in 1699.1 He lived at Stanhoe, Norfolk, EnglandG, jure uxoris.1 He lived at Thornham, Norfolk, EnglandG, jure uxoris.1 He sold the High Wycombe estates to Lord Shelburne in 1700.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1706 in the Col. Roger Townshend's Regiment of Foot.1 He transfered officer in 1707 in the service of the Royal Fusiliers.1

Jane Turner was the daughter of Charles Turner.1 She married Captain Thomas Archdale, son of John Archdale and Anne Cary, circa 1700.1 She died in 1722.1
From circa 1700, her married name became Archdale.1
