Brig.-Gen. James Reginald Maitland Dalrymple-Hay was born on 30 July 1858.1 He was the son of Colonel George James Dalrymple-Hay and Amelia Emily Maitland.2 He married Catherine Margaret Billinghurst, daughter of Henry Billinghurst, on 20 April 1892.1 He died on 6 November 1924 at age 66.1
He was appointed Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1900.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1910.1 He was Brigadier-General of the Jamaica Forces between 1910 and 1914.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the West Indies Regiment.1

Catherine Margaret Billinghurst was the daughter of Henry Billinghurst.2 She married Brig.-Gen. James Reginald Maitland Dalrymple-Hay, son of Colonel George James Dalrymple-Hay and Amelia Emily Maitland, on 20 April 1892.1 She died on 28 December 1949.1
From 20 April 1892, her married name became Dalrymple-Hay.1
