John Neil Buchanan Baillie-Hamilton of Arnprior was born on 12 March 1926.2 He was the son of John Edmonstone Buchanan-Baillie-Hamilton and Bridget Everitt Baker.2 He married, firstly, Hon. Caroline Barbara Coupar Barrie, daughter of Charles Coupar Barrie, 1st and last Baron Abertay and Ethel Broom, on 8 January 1955.1,2 He married, secondly, Gillian Mary Shepherd, daughter of Frank Nelson Shepherd and Betty Doreen Langdon, in 1981.2 He died on 15 February 2009 at age 82.3
He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, EnglandG.2 He was commissioned on 19 August 1945 with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, in the service of the Black Watch.4 He was Aide-de-Camp to the Governor of Sind between 1946 and 1948.2 He gained the rank of Captain on 12 March 1953.4 He lived in 2003 at Arnprior, Cambusmore, Callander, Perthshire, ScotlandG.2

Mildred Cooke was born on 24 August 1524 at Romford, Essex, EnglandG.1 She was the daughter of Sir Anthony Cooke and Anne FitzWilliam.1 She married William Cecil, 1st Baron of Burghley, son of Richard Cecil and Jane Heckington, on 21 December 1546.1 She died on 5 April 1589 at age 64 at Burghley House, The Strand, London, EnglandG.1 She was buried on 21 April 1589 at Westminster Abbey, Westminster, London, EnglandG.1
From 21 December 1546, her married name became Cecil.3

John Adams, 1st Baron Adams 2
John Jackson Adams, 1st and last Baron Adams was born on 12 October 1890.1 He was the son of Thomas Adams and Mary Bowness.1 He married Agnes Jane Birney, daughter of Thomas Birney, in 1914.1 He died on 23 August 1960 at age 69, without surviving issue.1
He was educated.1 He held the office of Chairman of the Arlecdon and Frizington Urban District Council between 1919 and 1923.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) before 1934.1 He held the office of County Alderman before 1934.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1944.1 He held the office of Deputy Regional Controller of the Board of Trade for Cumberland Westmorland Sub-region between 1944 and 1948.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Master of Arts (M.A.) by Durham University, Durham, County Durham, EnglandG, in 1948.1 He was created 1st Baron Adams, of Ennerdale, co. Cumberland [U.K.] on 16 February 1949, one of the many Labour Government creations.1 He lived at Wybrow Terrace, Workington, Cumberland, EnglandG.1
On his death, the Barony of Adams became extinct.1
