Spencer Compton, 2nd Earl of Northampton

Spencer Compton, 2nd Earl of Northampton was born in May 1601.2 He was the son of William Compton, 1st Earl of Northampton and Elizabeth Spencer.2 He married Mary Beaumont, daughter of Sir Francis Beaumont, in 1621.2 He died on 10 March 1642/43 at age 41 at Hopton Heath, Hopton, Staffordshire, EnglandG, killed in action.2
He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) in 1616.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Ludlow from 1621 to 1622.2 He held the office of Master of the Robes to King Charles I between 1625 and 1630.2 He succeeded as the 3rd Lord Compton [E., 1572] in 1626, in his father's lifetime.2 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire in 1630.2 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Warwickshire in 1630.2 He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Northampton [E., 1618] on 24 June 1630.3 He was Colonel-General of the royalist forces of Northamptonshire and Warwickshire.2 He fought in the Battle of Edgehill in 1642.2 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.4

John Bracebridge Wilson1

John Bracebridge Wilson was born on 13 September 1828 at Norfolk, England.1 He was the son of Reverend Edward Wilson and Lucretia King.1 He was baptised on 28 October 1829 at St. Margaret, Topcroft, Norfolk, England.1 He married Oriana Maria Rowcroft, daughter of Horatio Nelson Rowcroft and Mary Anne Catherine Stammers O'Donahoo, on 4 April 1863 at Geelong, Victoria, Australia.1 He died on 22 October 1895 at age 67 at Geelong, Victoria, Australia.1
He graduated from St. John's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1852 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He emigrated to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, arriving on 24 November 1857 on board Guy Mannering.1 He was the headmaster in 1863 at Geelong Grammer School, Geelong, Victoria, AustraliaG.1 He was appointed Fellow, Linnean Society (F.L.S.) in 1882.1

James Compton, 3rd Earl of Northampton was born on 19 August 1622.2 He was the son of Spencer Compton, 2nd Earl of Northampton and Mary Beaumont.2 He married, firstly, Lady Isabella Sackville, daughter of Richard Sackville, 3rd Earl of Dorset and Anne Clifford, Baroness Clifford, on 5 July 1647.1 He married, secondly, Hon. Mary Noel, daughter of Baptist Noel, 3rd Viscount Campden and Hon. Hester Wotton, before 1664.2 He died on 15 December 1681 at age 59.2
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Warwickshire between 1640 and 1643.2 He was educated at Queen's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.2 He succeeded as the 3rd Earl of Northampton [E., 1618] on 10 March 1642/43.2 He succeeded as the 4th Lord Compton [E., 1572] on 10 March 1642/43.2 In 1659 he was imprisoned in the Tower of London after a premature Royalist Uprising.2 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1673.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in March 1672/73.2 He held the office of Constable of the Tower of London between 1675 and 1679.2 He held the office of a Lord of Trade in 1677.2 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Warwickshire from 1680 to 1681.2

Hon. Mary Noel1

Hon. Mary Noel was the daughter of Baptist Noel, 3rd Viscount Campden and Hon. Hester Wotton.1 She married James Compton, 3rd Earl of Northampton, son of Spencer Compton, 2nd Earl of Northampton and Mary Beaumont, before 1664.1 She died on 22 August 1719.1
After her marriage, Hon. Mary Noel was styled as Countess of Northampton before 1664. From before 1664, her married name became Compton.1

Lady Isabella Sackville was born in 1622.2 She was the daughter of Richard Sackville, 3rd Earl of Dorset and Anne Clifford, Baroness Clifford.1 She married James Compton, 3rd Earl of Northampton, son of Spencer Compton, 2nd Earl of Northampton and Mary Beaumont, on 5 July 1647.3 She died on 22 August 1719.4
From 5 July 1647, her married name became Compton. After her marriage, Lady Isabella Sackville was styled as Countess of Northampton on 5 July 1647.

Robert Sackville, 2nd Earl of Dorset was born in 1561.1 He was the son of Thomas Sackville, 1st Earl of Dorset and Cecily Baker. He married, firstly, Lady Margaret Howard, daughter of Thomas Howard, 4th Duke of Norfolk and Hon. Margaret Audley, circa 4 February 1578/79.1 He married, secondly, Anne Spencer, daughter of Sir John Spencer and Katherine Kitson, in December 1592.2 He died on 27 February 1608/9.1

Mary Curzon was the daughter of Sir George Curzon.1 She married Edward Sackville, 4th Earl of Dorset, son of Robert Sackville, 2nd Earl of Dorset and Lady Margaret Howard, on 2 March 1612.1
