Sir Wilfred Douglas Vernon1

Sir Wilfred Douglas Vernon was born on 27 April 1897.1 He was the son of William Allen Vernon and Elizabeth Marson.2 He married Nancy Elizabeth Jackson, daughter of Tom Jackson, on 12 April 1923.1 He died on 17 July 1973 at age 76.1
He was educated at Sedbergh School, Sedbergh, Cumbria, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Air Force.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Surrey in 1952.1 He was appointed Knight in 1960.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Surrey in 1960.1 He was president of Spillers Ltd before 1969.1
