Captain Charles Edward Bancroft1

Captain Charles Edward Bancroft was born illegitimately on 20 October 1863.2 He was the son of Marie Effie Wilton.2 He was baptised on 26 August 1866.2 He married, firstly, Margaret Catherine Grimston, daughter of William Hunter Grimston and Madge Kendal, in 1895.2 He married, secondly, Ellie Maude Moses, daughter of Hon. Henry Moses, on 1 August 1900 at Hong KongG.1,2 He died on 6 October 1906 at age 42 at Marylebone, London, EnglandG, after a long illness.1,2 He was buried at Brompton Cemetery, Brompton, London, EnglandG.2
He was given the name of Charles Edward Wilton at birth.2 His name was legally changed to Charles Edward Bancroft.2 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He was commissioned on 25 August 1883 with the rank of Lieutenant, in the service of the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry.2 He gained the rank of Captain on 21 January 1893 in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers.1 His marriage to Margaret Catherine Grimston was annulled in 1897.2
