Rt. Hon. Samuel March Phillipps was born in July 1780.1 He was the son of Thomas March Phillipps and Susan Lisle.1 He married Charity Emilia Grant, daughter of Charles Grant and Jane Fraser, circa 1812.1 He died in March 1862 at age 81.1

Charles Grant1

Charles Grant was born on 16 April 1746.2 He was the son of Alexander Grant and Margaret Macbean.2 He married Jane Fraser, daughter of Thomas Fraser, in 1770.2 He died on 31 October 1823 at age 77.2
He was Senior Merchant, Honourable East India Company Service in 1784.2 He was 4th member of the Board of Trade, Calcutta in 1787.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Inverness-shire between 1802 and 1818.1,2 He was chairman of the Court of Directors, East India Company between 1805 and 1823.2

Charles Grant, 1st and last Baron Gleneig was born on 26 October 1778.3 He was the son of Charles Grant and Jane Fraser.1,3 He died on 23 April 1866 at age 87 at Cannes, FranceG, unmarried.3
He graduated from Magdalene College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1801 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)3 He graduated from Magdalene College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1804 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)3 He was admitted to Lincoln's Inn in 1807 entitled to practise as a barrister-at-law.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Inverness and Fortrose between 1811 and 1818.3 He held the office of a Lord of Treasury in 1813.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Inverness-shire between 1818 and 1835.3 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Magdalene College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1819.3 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1819.3 He held the office of Irish Secretary between 1819 and 1823.3 He held the office of Treasurer of the Navy between 1827 and 1828.3 He held the office of Vice-President of the Board of Trade between 1827 and 1828.3 He held the office of Colonial Secretary between 1835 and 1839.3 He was created 1st Baron Gleneig, of Glenelg, Inverness-shire [U.K.] on 11 May 1835.3
