Sir John David Rees, 1st Bt. was born on 16 December 1854.2 He was the son of Ludowick William Rees and Ann Jones.2 He married Hon. Mary Catherine Dormer, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Hon. James Charlemange Dormer and Ella Frances Catherine Alison, on 9 September 1891.1 He died on 2 June 1922 at age 67.2
He was with the Madras Civil Service in 1873.2 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Indian Empire (C.I.E.) in 1890.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Montgomery between 1906 and 1910.2 He was appointed Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.) in 1908.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Indian Empire (K.C.I.E.) in 1910.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for East Nottingham between 1912 and 1922.1 He was chairman of British Central Africa.2 He was created 1st Baronet Rees, of Aylwards Chase, co. Middlesex [U.K.] on 8 May 1919.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)2

Ebba Harline d'Iberville Le Moyne Whyte was the daughter of Captain Charles Cecil Beresford Whyte.2 She married, firstly, Sir Everard Alexander Hambro, son of Charles Joachim Hambro, Baron Hambro and Caroline Maria Gostenhofer, on 16 June 1911.1 She married, secondly, Robert Stanhope Dormer, son of Hon. Hubert Francis Dormer and Mary Jane Elizabeth Digby, on 14 February 1927.2 She died on 5 November 1961.1
From 16 June 1911, her married name became Hambro.1 From 14 February 1927, her married name became Dormer.2
