Rt. Hon. Hugh Culling Eardley Childers was born on 25 June 1827.1 He was the son of Reverend Eardley Childers Walbanke-Childers and Maria Charlotte Smith.2 He married, firstly, Emily Walker, daughter of George J. A. Walker, in 1850.1 He married, secondly, Katherine Anne Gilbert, daughter of Rt. Rev. Dr. Ashurst Turner Gilbert and Mary Anne Wintle, on 12 April 1879.2 He died on 29 January 1896 at age 68.2
