Francis John Stuart Hay-Newton1

Francis John Stuart Hay-Newton was born on 19 April 1843.2 He was the son of John Stuart Hay-Newton and Margaret Eliza Fairlie.2 He married Lucy Jane Fergusson, daughter of Major Robert Duncan Fergusson and Helen Blackburn, on 25 April 1887.1 He died on 2 March 1913 at age 69.2
He gained the rank of Captain in the 14th Hussars.2 He was British Consul to Ajaccio in 1888.2 He was British Consul to Stockholm in 1889.2 He was British Consul to Oporto in 1891.2 He was Consul-General to Algiers in 1897.2 He was a Queen's Messenger.2 He was appointed Member, Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.)1 He was Deputy Governor to the Isle of Wight and Carisbrooke Castle between 1910 and 1913.2 He was awarded the Officier, Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur.2

Lucy Jane Fergusson1

Lucy Jane Fergusson was the daughter of Major Robert Duncan Fergusson and Helen Blackburn.2 She married, firstly, Hon. Arthur Hay David Fraser, son of Alexander Fraser, 18th Lord Saltoun of Abernethy and Charlotte Evans, on 9 November 1877.1 She married, secondly, Francis John Stuart Hay-Newton, son of John Stuart Hay-Newton and Margaret Eliza Fairlie, on 25 April 1887.1 She died on 10 March 1939.1
She was Extra Lady-in-Waiting to HRH Princess Beatrice.1 From 9 November 1877, her married name became Fraser. Her married name became Hay-Newton.
