Sir William Edge, 1st Bt. was born on 21 November 1880.1 He was the son of Sir Knowles Edge and Mary Jane Preston.2 He married Ada Jane Ickringhill, daughter of Ira Ickringhill, on 9 August 1904.1 He died on 18 December 1948 at age 68.1
He was he headed William Edge & Sons, manufacturing chemists at Bolton, Lancashire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Staff-Captain in the War Office.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Bolton between 1916 and 1923.1 He held the office of Parliamentary Private Secretary between 1917 and 1919, to the Minister of National Service.1 He held the office of Parliamentary Private Secretary in 1919, to the Minister of National Service and Reconstruction.1 He held the office of Parliamentary Private Secretary in 1919, to the Minister of Labour.1 He held the office of Junior Lord of the treasury between 1919 and 1922.1 He was appointed Knight on 10 February 1922.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Bosworth between 1927 and 1945.1 He was Parliamentary Charity Commissioner between 1932 and 1935.1 He was created 1st Baronet Edge, of Ribble Lodge, in the Borough of Lytham Saint Annes in the County Palatine of Lancaster [U.K.] on 9 June 1937.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Lancashire in 1941.1
