Lawrence Anstie Harris was born on 13 December 1896.1 He was the son of Alfred Herschel Harris and Suzanne Amèlie Anstie.2 He married, firstly, Dorothy Mary England, daughter of F. A. England, on 2 October 1924.1 He married, secondly, Marjorie S. Powell, daughter of Henry Sydney Powell, in January 1965.1 He died on 19 January 1970 at age 73 at Droxford, Hampshire, England.1,3
He was educated at Tonbridge School, Tonbridge, Kent, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1917.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1937.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1945.1 He retired from the military in 1948, with the rank of Brigadier, late of the Royal Artillery.1
