John Savile, 1st Earl of Mexborough of Lifford was born in December 1719.1 He was the son of Charles Savile and Alathea Millington. He married Sarah Delaval, daughter of Francis Blake Delaval and Rhoda Apreece, on 20 January 1760.2 He died on 17 February 1778 at age 58.1
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Heydon between 1747 and 1754.2 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) in 1749.2 He was created 1st Baron Pollington of Longford, co. Longford [Ireland] on 8 November 1753.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Shoreham between 1761 and 1768.2 He was created 1st Viscount Pollington of Ferns [Ireland] on 11 February 1766.2 He was created 1st Earl Mexborough of Lifford, co. Donegal [Ireland] on 11 February 1766.2

Sarah Delaval1

Sarah Delaval was born in 1742.2 She was the daughter of Francis Blake Delaval and Rhoda Apreece.1 She married, firstly, John Savile, 1st Earl of Mexborough of Lifford, son of Charles Savile and Alathea Millington, on 20 January 1760.1 She married, secondly, Reverend Sandford Hardcastle on 4 May 1780.1 She died on 9 August 1821.1
From 20 January 1760, her married name became Savile.1 After her marriage, Sarah Delaval was styled as Countess of Mexborough of Longford on 11 February 1766. From 4 May 1780, her married name became Hardcastle.1
