Arthur Strange Kattendyke David Archibald Gore, 8th Earl of Arran of the Arran Islands was born on 5 July 1910.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Arthur Jocelyn Charles Gore, 6th Earl of Arran of the Arran Islands and Mathilde Jacqueline Marie Beauclerk Huyssen van Kattendijke.1 He married Fiona Bryde Colquhoun, daughter of Lt.-Col. Sir Iain Colquhoun of Luss, 7th Bt. and Geraldine Bryde Dinah Tennant, on 11 June 1937.1 He died on 23 February 1983 at age 72.1

Wexford [I., 1758] on 28 December 1958.1 He succeeded as the 4th Baron Sudley of Castle Gore, co. Mayo [U.K., 1884] on 28 December 1958.1 He succeeded as the 10th Baronet Saunders, of Newtown Gore, co. Mayo [I., 1662] on 28 December 1958.1

Fiona Bryde Colquhoun was born on 20 July 1918.2 She was the daughter of Lt.-Col. Sir Iain Colquhoun of Luss, 7th Bt. and Geraldine Bryde Dinah Tennant.1 She married Arthur Strange Kattendyke David Archibald Gore, 8th Earl of Arran of the Arran Islands, son of Lt.-Col. Arthur Jocelyn Charles Gore, 6th Earl of Arran of the Arran Islands and Mathilde Jacqueline Marie Beauclerk Huyssen van Kattendijke, on 11 June 1937.1 She died on 16 May 2013 at age 94.2
Her married name became Gore. After her marriage, Fiona Bryde Colquhoun was styled as Countess of Arran of the Arran Islands on 28 December 1958. In August 1980 a power boat racer, and the first woman to reach 100 mph on water (102 mph on Lake Windermere.3 ) She was awarded the Segrave Trophy in 1981 ‘for outstanding courage on water or in the air.3' She lived in 2003 at Pimlico House, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, EnglandG.3

Lt.-Col. Sir Iain Colquhoun of Luss, 7th Bt.1

Lt.-Col. Sir Iain Colquhoun of Luss, 7th Bt. was born on 20 June 1887.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Sir Alan John Colquhoun of Luss, 6th Bt. and Justine Henrietta Kennedy.2 He married Geraldine Bryde Dinah Tennant, daughter of Francis John Tennant and Annie Geraldine Redmayne, on 10 February 1915.1 He died on 12 November 1948 at age 61.1
He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Colquhoun, of Luss [G.B., 1786] on 14 March 1910.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded.1 He was awarded the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1916 and bar (1918.)1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Scots Guards.1 He graduated with a Doctor of Law (LL.D.)1 He gained the rank of Honorary Colonel in the 9th Battalion, Argyll Sutherland Highlanders.1 He held the office of Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 1932.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Colonel in 1934 in the Glasgow University Officer Training Corps.1 He held the office of Lord Rector of Glasgow University between 1934 and 1937.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Dunbartonshire.1
He was appointed Knight, Order of the Thistle (K.T.) in 1937.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Colonel in 1939 in the Royal Artillery (Territorial Army.)1 He held the office of Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland between 1940 and 1941.1 He was an enthusiastic proponent of the manly aspects of Highland stalking, going out in the deer forests himself barefoot.1
