Matthew Charles Brodie MacAlister, 3rd of Genbarr and Cour was the son of Keith MacAlister, 2nd of Glenbarr and Cour and Mary Agatha Campbell.2 He married, firstly, Augusta Lees, daughter of Major Henry Lees and Eliza Maria McKay, on 11 August 1869.2 He married, secondly, Edith Margaret Dudgeon, daughter of George Dudgeon, in 1901.1 He died in 1921.1
He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Cameron Highlanders.1 Matthew Charles Brodie MacAlister, 3rd of Genbarr and Cour usually went by his middle name of Charles.2
