Sir John Ross, 1st Lord Ross of Halkhead1

Sir John Ross, 1st Lord Ross of Halkhead was the son of John Ross.2 He married Marjory Mure, daughter of John Mure, 3rd of Caldwell and Elizabeth (?).3 He died between 12 December 1500 and 16 October 1501.4
He gained the title of 1st Lord Ross of Halkhead. He was appointed Knight from 10 August 1450 to 17 January 1450/51.2

(Labour) for West Islington between 1935 and 1947.1 He held the office of Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Transport between 1940 and 1941.1 He held the office of Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Aircraft Production between 1941 and 1942.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1946.1 He was created 1st Baron Amwell, of Islington, co. London [U.K.] on 16 July 1947.1

Sir John Colquhoun of Luss was the son of Humphrey Colquhoun, 12th of Luss and Helen Erskine.2 He married, secondly, Margaret Cuninghame, daughter of William Cuninghame, 2nd of Craigends and Giles Campbell.1 He married, firstly, Lady Elizabeth Stewart, daughter of John Stuart, 1st Earl of Lennox and Margaret Montgomerie, circa 1480.1,2 He died in 1536.1
He lived at Luss, Argyllshire, ScotlandG.3 In 1514 he conspired with his father-in-law to seize Dumbarton Castle.1
