Charles Whitworth, 1st Baron Whitworth of Galway1

Charles Whitworth, 1st Baron Whitworth of Galway was baptised on 14 October 1675.1 He was the son of Richard Whitworth and Anne Moseley.2 He married Madeleine Jacqueline de Sallengre, daughter of Albert Henri de Sallengre, Seigneur de Grifoort, in June 1720.1 He died on 23 October 1725 at age 50, without issue.1
He was educated at Westminster School, Westminster, London, England.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He was with the Diplomatic Service between 1699 and 1725.1 He held the office of Ambassador Extraordinary to Russia between 1709 and 1711.1 He held the office of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russia from 1711 to 1712.1 He held the office of Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Berlin in 1716/17.1 He held the office of Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to The Hague from May 1717 to 1721.1 He held the office of Minister Plenipotentiary to Berlin between 1719 and 1722.1 He was created 1st Baron Whitworth of Galway, co. Galway [Ireland] on 9 January 1720/21.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Newport, Isle of Wight between 1722 and 1725.1 He held the office of Joint Ambassador and Plenipotentiary to the Congress of Cambrai in 1725.1 On his death his title became extinct.1

Madeleine Jacqueline de Sallengre is the daughter of Albert Henri de Sallengre, Seigneur de Grifoort.2 She married Charles Whitworth, 1st Baron Whitworth of Galway, son of Richard Whitworth and Anne Moseley, in June 1720.1
From June 1720, her married name became Whitworth. After her marriage, Madeleine Jacqueline de Sallengre was styled as Baroness Whitworth of Galway on 9 January 1720/21.
