Rt. Hon. Edwin Samuel Montagu was born on 6 February 1879.1 He was the son of Samuel Montagu, 1st Baron Swaythling and Ellen Cohen.1 He married Hon. Beatrice Venetia Stanley, daughter of Edward Lyulph Stanley, 4th Baron Sheffield and Mary Katherine Bell, on 26 July 1915.1 He died on 15 November 1924 at age 45.1

Samuel Montagu, 1st Baron Swaythling

Samuel Montagu, 1st Baron Swaythling was born on 21 December 1832.1 He was the son of Louis Samuel and Henrietta Israel.2 He married Ellen Cohen, daughter of Louis Cohen and Rebecca Floretta Keyser, on 5 March 1862.2 He died on 12 January 1911 at age 78.2
He was given the name of Moses Samuel at birth.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Whitechapel between 1885 and 1900.1 In 1894 his name was legally changed to Samuel Montagu by Royal Licence.1 He was created 1st Baronet Montagu [U.K.] on 23 June 1894.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Hampshire.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for London.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of London.1 He was created 1st Baron Swaythling, of Swaythling, co. Southampton [U.K.] on 18 July 1907.1

Judith Venitia Montagu
