Arthur Charles Campbell Thorold was born on 13 September 1873.1 He was the son of Reverend Algernon Charles Edward Thorold and Edith Mary Clay.2 He married, firstly, Kathleen May Jeffrey, daughter of Frederick Jeffrey, on 15 January 1913.1 He married, secondly, Jessie Isobel Marjory Were, daughter of Francis Wellington Were, in 1925.2 He died on 16 October 1939 at age 66.2
He graduated from Worcester College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was Headmaster between 1933 and 1939 at Mentone Grammar School, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.1
