Sir Bruce Stirling Ingram1

Sir Bruce Stirling Ingram was born on 5 May 1877.1 He was the son of Sir William James Ingram, 1st Bt. and Mary Eliza Collingwood Stirling.2 He married, firstly, Amy Foy, daughter of John Foy, on 14 July 1904.1 He married, secondly, Lily Grundy, daughter of Sydney Grundy, on 12 November 1947.1 He died on 8 January 1963 at age 85.1
He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1897 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He gained the rank of Temporary Lieutenant in the Royal Garrison Artillery.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal East Kent Yeomanry Cavalry.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1917.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1919.1 He was editor of Illustrated London and The Sketch.1 He was awarded the Officier, Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur in 1950.1 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1950.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Literature (D.Litt.) in 1960.1
