Hon. Sir John Winthrop Hackett was born on 4 February 1848.2 He is the son of Reverend John Winthrop Hackett and Jane Monck-Mason.2 He married Deborah Vernon Drake-Brockman, daughter of Frederick Slade Drake-Brockman, on 3 August 1905.2 He died on 19 February 1916 at age 68.2
He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He held the office of Member of the Legislative Council (M.L.C.)
