Colonel Daniel Stewart Thomas Bingham Dixon, 2nd Baron Glentoran was born on 19 January 1912.2 He was the son of Herbert Dixon, 1st Baron Glentoran and Hon. Emily Ina Florence Bingham.2 He married Lady Diana Mary Wellesley, daughter of Henry Arthur Mornington Wellesley, 3rd Earl Cowley and Clare Florence Mary Stapleton, on 20 July 1933.3 He died on 22 July 1995 at age 83 at Drumadarragh House, Doagh, County Antrim, IrelandG.4
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He gained the rank of officer in the Grenadier Guards.2 He fought in the Second World War, including Fnrace and Monte Cassino.2 He retired from the military in 1947, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Belfast Bloomfield [Northern Ireland] between 1950 and 1961.2 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Dixon [U.K., 1903] on 20 July 1950.3 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Glentoran, of Ballyalloly, co. Gabrielle Palmer is the daughter of General Sir Arthur Power Palmer.2 She married, firstly, Colonel Francis Leger Christian Livingstone-Learmonth, son of Andrew James Livingstone-Learmonth and Frances Maxwell Buchanan Cuninghame, on 12 December 1922.1,3 She married, secondly, Captain George Cecil Colville, son of Admiral Hon.
