A binding by Gleeson White for ‘Practical Designing’ (original) (raw)
Cloth binding for ‘Practical Designing’
Joseph William Gleeson White
1893
Cloth binding with gilt overlays
7½ x 5 inches
Reminiscent of D. G. Rossetti's Poems of 1870 while recalling the compact organization of decorative devices by William Morris, this book is another example of Gleeson's White's placement of patterns and the spaces between them. Edited by White, the volume is an anthology of writings on aspects of design, and it is only appropriate that it should be embellished with a bespoke cover.
