Dante Gabriel Rossetti [?], cover for William Michael Rossetti’s ‘Fine Art, Chiefly Contemporary’ (original) (raw)
Cloth binding for ‘Fine Art, Chiefly Contemporary’
Dante Gabriel Rossetti [?]
1867
Cloth binding
7¾ x 5 inches
This cover could be by Dante Rossetti. Its simplification generally recalls his other bindings; however, the repetition of Macmillan’s device in a series of roundels seems unlike the sort of imagery the other-worldly artist would endorse.
