“King Lear” by Kenny Meadows (original) (raw)
King Lear
Kenny Meadows [?]
1839
Source: The Complete Works of Shakspeare [sic], I, 143.
Shakespeareillustration.org attributes this excellent image of Lear to Kenny Meadows without explanation. Meadows, unlike other artists who created in-text illustrations for the three-volume Shakespeare, usually signs his work with his name or initials. If this is in fact by Meadows it's of higher quality than most of his work. — George P. Landow]
