Christowell (1882) — a Summary (original) (raw)
This summaryof the novel is from Ernest Baker and James Packman, A Guide to the Best Fiction(London: George Routledge, 1932) — DB
A beautiful village on the eastern edge of Dartmoor is the scene, and the tale covers a large extent of that wild region. Happy and affectionate family life and homely characters, with some episodes of terror as a contrast, make up the story. The gardener, Cap'n Larks, is a kind of self-portrait of Blackmore.
