Dickens's Christmas Stories, Vol. 16 of Charles Dickens Library Edition, facing page 1.
Although most of Dickens's seasonal offerings in the weekly journalsHousehold Words(1851-58) and All the Year Round (1859-1867), appeared in substantial "Extra Christmas" numbers, "The Poor Relation's Story" was part of one of the less substantial numbers, that for 1852. More characteristic of his Christmas publication practices is that only one other ofA Round of Stories by the Christmas Fire was by Dickens himself, namely "The Child's Story."
