The bronze plaque behind the fountain identifies Brown and Seddon as sculptor and architect. The list of “Subscribers and Promoters” includes members of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood (Sir John Everett Millais, F. G. Stephens, William Holman Hunt), the Pre-Raphaelite circle (Arthur Hughes, A. W. Hunt, W. B. Scott, Sir Noel Paton) and the Royal Academy (Sir Lawrence Alma Tadema, , Lord Leighton, Val Prinsep, W. B. Richmond). We also find writers (Robert Browning, Edmund Gosse, Coventry Patmore, A. C. Swinburne, Sir Henry Taylor) and patrons (C. A. Ionides, Miss Horniman).
