Never underestimate DBW's tendency to get absorbed in a genre he knows nothing about, and attempt to get up to speed far too rapidly. These days, it's all about Türkpop, which combines Near Eastern melodic movement (often Phrygian or Phrygian dominant), some traditional instruments and strings and clavé rhythm within a recognizable Western pop/rock framework. In other words, almost everything Wilson holds dear. Start with Nazan Öncel and Sıla, then proceed rapidly to Candan Erçetin and Kardeş Türküler.
