Activated 5.60 in Nizhniy Tagil, Sverdlovsk Oblast, under the 202nd Missile Brigade, from 30.5.61 the 42nd Missile Division.

Controlled three R-16 (SS-7) battalions (sites):

• 1st Battalion (BSP-1) with 2 R-16 pads
• 2nd Battalion (BSP-3) with 2 R-16 pads
• 3rd Battalion (BSP-12) with 2 R-16 pads

Disbanded 15.4.63, and each battalion became independent:

• 1st Battalion became the 79th independent Missile Battalion (see the 601st Missile Regiment)
• 2nd Battalion became the 93rd independent Missile Battalion (see the 767th Missile Regiment)
• 3rd Battalion became the 82nd independent Missile Battalion (see the 617th Missile Regiment)
