If you are interested please get back to me with your email and we will go from there. Thanks! Memory-of.com is creating a project that we would like this support group to participate in. The project point is for 3000+ people to join together and share stories of overcoming grief and bereavement. The project is sponsored by Memory-of.com. pup_wolfie I don't know why but I have a deep spritual connection to 911. Recently I visited the Shanksville United 93 Crash site/memorial, and it was very moving, I find myself fasinated by the whole thing and have read and re read the flight transcript. I have been thinking about 911 a lot, dreaming about it and for some reason can't get it out of my head. I don't know if I lost someone on flight 93 or not or in the other attacks. I am not a resident of DC, Shanksville, or NYC but unfortently, something in my soul is deeply rooted into that day. I don't know if I am experiencing, still grieving over the trama of that day but I am still so connected to it. I was just wondering if anyone else feels the same?current mood: curious (4 comments | comment on this)

This coming February is National Terrorism Alertness Month. Please send a message to the terrorists in the Middle East that you WILL NOT STAND towatch your country and freedoms be destroyed EVER AGAIN by forwarding this message to at least 10 people within 5 minutes of reading it. If you forward this message to at least 25 people within 10 minutes of reading it, you will get to go on a date with your crush! This chain has beencirculating for THREE YEARS and in that time ZERO terrorist acts have committed on U.S. soil - do you want to be responsible for the next one by breaking the chain? 8:57 pm - what's goin' on with the world???
__arizona__ I have recently joined this community. I live in Russia so I saw everything that hahappenned in New York City on September,11th 2001 by television. I was really astonished by everything that happenned. Fortunately, there were none of my friends or relatives but this event made me get stressed. How people can be so ruthless (I'm talking about those therrorists)? Whatever happened to the values of humanity Whatever happened to the fairness in equalityWhat's going on with the world? why do people become so cruel? These questions worry me the whole time, but nobody nowadays can answer them...current mood: depressed (4 comments | comment on this)

12:39 pm - Mocking Sept. 11
zaxwrit It seems some folks feel Sept. 11 is fodder for jokes, and they will staunchly defend their decision to use it as such.I'm referring to the headline in this posthttp://www.livejournal.com/users/overheardnyc/832167.htmland the LJers who found it funny, and outright demanded others find the tragedy humorous. Especially the user named noctolatornoctolator.I've tried to point out why the mass murder of thousands should not be used for amusement, to no avail. Perhaps a reader of this community can show them the error of their ways.If not, thanks for your time.x-posted (5 comments | comment on this)

12:44 pm - For all the children that have lost their Daddy or Mommy 9-11-01
army12babby03 For all the children that have lost their Daddy or Mommy in the tragedy of 9-11. Always remember they will be in your hearts. Her hair up in a pony tail, her favorite dress tied with a bow Today was Daddy's Day at school, and she couldn't wait to go But her mommy tried to tell her, that she probably should stay home Why the kids might not understand, if she went to school alone. But she was not afraid; she knew just what to say What to tell her classmates, on the Daddy's Day But still her mommy worried, for her to face this day alone And that was why once again, she tried to keep her daughter home. But the little girl went to school, eager to tell them all About a dad she never sees, a dad who never calls There were daddies along the wall in back for everyone to meet Children squirming impatiently, anxious in their seats One by one the teacher called, a student from the class to introduce their daddy as seconds slowly passed. At last the teacher called her name, every child turned to stare Each of them were searching, for a man who wasn't there "Where's her daddy at?" she heard a boy call out "She probably doesn't have one," another student dared to shout And from somewhere near the back, she heard a daddy say "Looks like another deadbeat dad, too busy to waste his day." The words did not offend her, as she smiled at her friends And looked back at her teacher who told her to begin. And with hands behind her back, slowly she began to speak and out from the mouth of a child, came words incredibly unique. "My Daddy couldn't be here, because he lives so far away. But I know he wishes he could, be with me on this day." "And though you cannot meet him, I wanted you to know All about my Daddy, And how much he loves me so." "He loved to tell me stories, he taught me to ride my bike. He surprised me with pink roses and taught me to fly a kite." "We used to share fudge sundaes, and ice cream in a cone. and though you cannot see him, I'm not standing here alone." "Cause my Daddy's always with me, even though we are far apart. I know because he told me, he'll forever be here in my heart." With that her little hand reached up, and lay across her chest Feeling her own heartbeat, beneath her favorite dress. And from some where in the crowd of dads, her mother stood in tears Proudly watching her daughter, who was wise beyond her years For she stood up for the love, of a man not in her life doing what was best for her, doing what was right. And when she dropped her hand back down, staring straight into the crowd She finished with a voice so soft but its message clear and loud. " I love my Daddy very much, he's my shining star, and if he could he'd be here but heavens much to far." "but sometimes when I close my eyes, it's like he never went away." And then she closed her eyes, and she saw him there that day. And to her mother's amazement she witnessed with surprise A room full of Daddies and Children all starting to close their eyes. Who knows what they saw before them, who knows what they felt inside Perhaps for merely a second they saw him at her side. "I know you're with me Daddy," to the silence she called out And what happened next made believers, of those once filled with doubt Not one in that room could explain it for each of their eyes had been closed but there placed on her desk was a beautiful pink rose. And a child was blessed, if only a moment, by the love her shining bright star and given the gift of believing that Heaven is never to far. For all the children that have lost their Daddy or Mommy in the tragedy of 9-11. Always remember they will be in your hearts.current mood: sad (comment on this)

less_of_me_ My mom-mom created a few sweatshirts with her embroidery machine, in remembrance of 9/11.I'm currently selling them on ebay, and 10% of the profits will go to the Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund. I was going to put them at 5,butwhenIwenttohavetheprofitsdonatedtothecharity,itsaidthattheywouldneeda5, but when I went to have the profits donated to the charity, it said that they would need a 5,butwhenIwenttohavetheprofitsdonatedtothecharity,itsaidthattheywouldneeda10 minimum. I changed the price to 15soatleast15 so at least 15soatleast10 will go to the charity. I figure most sweatshirts are $20+, and at least 2/3 of this one goes to a good cause, so its worth it.These are completely brand new and never before worn.See them here. (comment on this)

marymagdalene Hi, my name is Eileen (people call me eisy) and my uncle Ray died on September 11th...He was a Lieutenant Firefighter who worked in Manhattan on 43rd I think. When they got the call, he was just getting off work and instead of going home, he went to the WTC to help. He survived the first collapse. There is a photo taken by his partner (also killed) of him walking into the second building just before his death. It is an amazing photo and if I find it I will definitely post it. He had survived the first collapse and died in the second.Since it was the 4th of July, I felt it was necessary to post this. My cousins still don't have their father. My aunt still is missing her husband. Years go by and He was so remarkable in everything. I remember going to Jones Beach with him and racing with him in the sand. I remember how brilliantly funny he was and how he would basically go back and forth with my other uncles, making jokes, always laughing. and he saved people. He was a hero long before 9/11, which made everyone so proud of him, especially my grandma who died the year before he did...I am glad she was not around when all of this happened because he and her were so so close. He once saved a mentally retarded kid from a fire that no one else would go into and earned a medal for his bravery. The day of his funeral was the most incredible thing that I had ever been a part of, something I will never forget. Mayor Guiliani came and gave his condolences to our family, they closed off the entire FREEWAY so that his funeral procession could run through to the cemetary from the funeral home. It was absolutely amazing. People were standing in their doorways watching, children stood on the side of the road, saluting. Over 600 people attended---people who didn't even know him or my family came because they felt they had to be there. It was something I will always remember. Here is a little snippet from the New York Times. I think that every firefighter who took part in 9/11 was a hero. The site has more articles on these extraordinary people.http://www.bravestmemorial.com/html/members/murphy_raymond_lt_l016.htmlI would just like everyone to say a word or a prayer for peace. It won't prevent tragedies like this from happening, but if we have peace in our hearts then we are all heroes. (8 comments | comment on this)

mandabear86 Hi I am new to this community, but I would to add some essays that I wrote about September 11th. I was chosen to read an essay at the American Legion were I live for September 11th in 2003 and 2004. It was a great honor too be chosen to read my essays to the American Legion. This one is the one I read in 2004. I would like to hear any comments anyone may have.A Year To RememberBy Amanda Chamberlin(me)I look back and remeber the events that changed our lives. September 11, 2001, should never be forgotten. September 11th will always be a day of rememberance. Two towers, the Pentagon, and the fourth plane that went down in Pennsylvania. Four attacks that have changed America forever. As I look back at what happened I remember most of all the shock. I never would have thought thatsomething as close to home as New York City would be attackedby terrorists. A terrorist attack in America was once only scenes from Hollywood movies. However, September 11, 2001 the United States of America was attacked by terrorists. There is more to remember about the third anniverary of September 11 than shock and fear. We should always remember the bravery of our heroes: those who risked their lives to save others. Not only the police officers and fire fighters, but the people who tried to get their co-workers out before themselves. Also, remember the millions of people who made donations; whether clothing, food, time, or blood. As Americans, we came together to help our nation in a time of need.As we recall the tradgedy of 9/11 we should remember everyone who died. And left behind families without grandparents, parents, uncles, aunts, sisters, brothers, and so on. In my eyes I believe that every victim and releif worker is a true hero. A hero isn't someone with superpowers. A hero is a normal person like you and I. The true definition of a herois someone who sees humanity as more important than the individual. People who are willing to try to help other people in need. To me that type of person is a true hero. When those people boared the planes, and went to work at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon they September 11, 2001 was just a normal day. These innocent Americans were in for an horrific surprise. In too many cases a deadly surprise. A surprise no one in the United States could ever imagine. Was this just a horrible nightmare they would soon awaken from? Sadly, we all know the answer now.All Americans should remember what happened this day three years ago. Remember our weaknesses, and also our strengths. Remember how our nation came together as one. Here we are today, September 11, 2004- At this time, in this hour, at this moment- were you ever more proud to be an American? September 11th a day to always remember. When I find the one I wrote for 2003 I'll type it here too. Well I hope you all liked it!current mood: creative (23 comments | comment on this)

5:15 pm - 9/11 Memorial
gregorysparr Bill Maher, a political pundit, has mad waves in the past by saying that we should build a "Why They Hate Us" Pavillion in Washington D.C. Basically, he thinks we should set up a walk-through memorial about what causes terrorism and why we're hated by these fanatics, so that we can know and understand why terrorism exists and just how to defeat it. I was horrified by the 9/11 attacks, and I would've launched a war against al-Qaeda as well, but I do daresay that there's far more to why al-Qaeda hates us than just "freedom." I mean, I'm not a toddler, and no one here is, either. We are greedy, and lazy, and we do step on people in other countries. That, of course, justifies not the murder of our people, but it is one of the things that has led to it. Resentment over the fact that they live in huts, and drive camels, while we eat our big macs and listen to songs about _Bitches and Hoes._I think our country needs to be better educated on the whys and hows of terrorism, of how it rises, and how to defeat it. (And, before anyone says, "ARE YOU SAYING WE SHOULDN'T FIGHT TERRORISTS LOL BUT GIVE THEM FOOD STAMPS INSTEAD?!?" I say, "No, but the way to defeat terrorism is to defeat the relatively small amount of terrorists, and warm over the large amount of good people in that part of the world through diplomacy and international aid.") theprisoner6 Tell me,_what are we doing?Charts, journals, symbols, and all the trappings of HistoryMoved back and forwardTo assuage the momentTo render the wound latched againThat gaping hole in the Manhattan SkylineTooth for toothAnd how we smile crooked!Gnashing gumsBleeding colors of red and blueBut most of all, greenWith "In God We Trust" emblazonedOn the soot-covered bodiesAnd tenderly with parcels,We open our lives again.Yet one item is unopenedUnaddressed,The seal impossible to steam away ...perhaps another bomb will save our eyes the trouble._Copyright ©2005 William T. 3:31 pm - My 9/11 Poem
ewan_mcgregor14 Hi I'm Becca and I'm new to this group. I have a big interst in September 11. I'm 15 now and I'm a freshman at OCHS in KY. When 9/11 happened I was in 6th grade. I've written things about 9/11 before but I thought this was my best that i've done. I wrote this a few months ago in my English class. It's called a backwards poem and I think you figure out why. It may help to stop every now and then and try to picture what's going on. Please tell me what you think of it. I worked quite hard on it b/c it means a lot to me. Here it is: I Will Never Forget The North Tower rebuilds itself, floor after floor piling on top of each other. The huge wall of smoke and dust travel backward toward the skyscraper.Citizens run back to where they stood and watched the destruction. The tower stands tall now, growing stronger every moment. It bleeds smoke and fire. The bodies rise from the ground and stand in their office, waving for help! More smoke and dust exit the streets.Fire trucks, ambulances, and cop cars take shape, becoming clean and shiny. The South tower is now forming and stands like its twin to the north. More people gather in the streets, standing, crying, and staring in disbelief. Some on their cell phones talking with their loved ones, being comforted. Everyone looks away as there is an enormous explosion.Debris floats up and the fire is extinguished as the plane exits the South Tower. It flies back to the airportand the terrorists quietly take their seats. Time flies backward and finally the same happens to the North Tower. The debris is no more as the boom dissipates and the jet glides out.The gash is repaired. Two towers now stand untouched as a beacon to the world. Everyone on the planes and in the towers sit quietly, unknowingly, carrying on with their business. They believe they will be with their families again, see their kids’ smiling faces at Christmas. The sun rises on this crisp, clear, blue,September 11th. current mood: accomplished (2 comments | comment on this)
