#71 - #82 (original) (raw)

I'm No Angel (1933) - Mae West and Cary Grant film. Mae West is very annoying, she is so annoying, I couldn't enjoy Archibald!!

The Forsyte Woman (1949) - An adaptation of the book "The Man of Property" by John Galsworthy. Starring Greer Garson and Errol Flynn. I was surprised I liked this as I don't like old hollywood period pieces, usually. But I liked this and it was in technicolor too.

Odds Against Tomorrow (1959) - Harry Belefonte stars as a con who plans a job with 2 other cons (one who is a bigot). Not as good as some Potier stuff, pretty tame in comparison.

The Graduate (1967) - This was funny, I never knew. I love Hoffman.

Wives & Daughters (Volumes 1&2) (1999) - BBC period piece (which I love). Adapted from the book by Elizabeth Gaskell.

The Kingdom (2007) - Urgh! Enough Iraq war movies already.

Ladies in Lavender (2004) - I watched this because Joshua Bell played the score. It was a pretty decent little British drama.

Luther (2003) - About Martin Luther and the rise of the Lutheran religion. Very interesting period piece.

The Well (1951) - This is the shinning star movie of my week. The acting was pretty bad but the story was top notch. A young black girl vanishes and a white man is accused of her disapperance. The town goes into 'race riot' mode. We get to see human nature at its worst and then in the same breath, we get to see it at its finest. Excellent film, that you don't hear much about. Very relevant, even 50 years later.

Awake (2007) - OK so Jessica Alba was very good in this, but the story. Cheesy, Corny, Dumb.

Latter Days (2003) - A Mormon missonary discovers he is gay, falls in love and is ex-communicated. This is a true love story that will tug at your hearts.

Intermezzo: A Love Story (1939) - The remake of the Sweedish version Intermezzo (1938) also starring Ingrid Bergman. This was her American debut. She wore absolutley no makeup in this film, not that you can tell because she is stunning. Leslie Howard co-stars in this love story about sacrifice.
