021: Biohazard / Resident Evil [Paul W.S. Anderson 2002]
I had watched Resident Evil a long time ago and forgotten about it. Then, the other day, the boyfriend and I decided to watch something called Biohazard and I thought - "hey, Milla Jovovich is hot, sci-fi can be hot, why not? besides, resident evil wasn't half bad." We start to watch it, and it keeps reminding me of something. I can't put my finger on it (and why would milla jovovich star in 2 zombie trilogies??), and not until we get to Biohazard 2 do I realize it is the very same movie. Doh! Biohazard is actually the original name of the Resident Evil games, and as we are in Japan, obviosly they use the original title.
Anyways, it's not half bad, this one. As far as zombie movies get, it's quite entertaining.

022: Biohazard 2 / Resident Evil: Apocalypse [Alexander Witt 2004]
I wish I could say the same about this one. It's so messy, and strays away from itself a lot. Still, not quite as bad as...

023: Biohazard 3 / Resident Evil: Extinction [Russell Mulcahy 2007]
Man, this was a waste of time. It got completely out of hand. The bad guy made no sense what so ever.

024: Office Space [Mike Judge 1999]
I really enjoyed this one. I always love a movie where someone breaks out of the norm entirely without fear. (see: Fight Club)

025: Live Free or Die Hard [Len Wiseman 2007]
Die Hard: In the Now. They were really trying, eh. Computer hax, technological crime. Even Kevin Smith starred in it as a notorious hacker! that was quite a surprise. It was entertaining for an action movie, but it didn't really cut it.

026: I Am Legend [Francis Lawrence 2007]
I have always hated Will Smith very deeply. My gut wrenched every time he screamed in Fresh Prince and I could never even remotely find him funny or credible. This time, however, I was undeniably surprised. He managed this role very, very well. I'm not sure about the movie as a whole, but Will Smith definitely carried it through skillfully.

027: Equilibrium [Kurt Wimmer 2002]
I liked the idea of the movie, at the same time as I couldn't quite see past the copying of the infamous 1984 scenario. However, I always loved to see any movie with a 1984 story and I did enjoy this one as well. It's a bit flat overall, but has an interesting message.

028: Die Hard [John McTiernan 1988]
Love. It. To. Bits. Late 80s-early 90s action movies never fail. Love them all.

029: Die Hard 2 [Renny Harlin 1990]
This was actually the very first time I saw this one - somehow, I managed to escape it all these years. I loved it, ofcourse. PS: a very young Robert Patrick! haha

030: Die Hard: With a Vengeance [John McTiernan 1995]
First of all, I can't believe it's 1995, I seriously can't. I still feel it's fresh and new. ACK! I'm getting old!! But I love this one too. It's everything a proper action movie should be.

031: Spider-Man [Sam Raimi 2002]
I moderately liked it. It drove me neither here nor there. It's a bit exciting to see Peter Parker transform, but it's a bit annoying to see his emo teenager side, although I understand that it's the essense of Spider-Man in a way. He's still human, he's still a teenager, he'll still make bad, selfish choises. But it's annoying.

032: Spider-Man 2 [Sam Raimi 2004]
From here on out, it stopped making sense.

033: Spider-Man 3 [Sam Raimi 2007]
And I'm thinking, "Thank god I was cleaning the house while watching it, so I didn't waste time."

034: V for Vendetta [James McTeigue 2005]
2005 already? Oh time, where have thou flown?!! Didn't it come out yesterday? Blast!! Anyway, a masterpiece of a rare caliber nowadays. Love so many things about it - the 1984-scenario, the anti-hero that is a master of his work, the wonderful Natalie Portman. And the wordplays. Mm. I don't like comics, but perhaps I will read this one someday.

035: Babel [Alejandro González Iñárritu 2006]
After watching it, I was left a little confused - what is this all really about? Without a doubt, if you divide the movie into smaller parts, I loved every single one. I loved the acting, the interaction between people, the intervowen stories, the ability to portray reality exactly as it is, although a couple of points may have been exaggerated a little bit, i'm sure the tourists wouldn't act like complete assholes in real life. Japan's setting was more or less exactly like it is, which was impressive because usually, there's always something wrong and something off. This time, there wasn't. But what is this movie about on whole? I can't figure it out yet.

036: Zodiac [David Fincher 2007]
Snore. I must have missed the class where they informed us of what this movie is supposed to mean. Evidently, according to "everyone", it's a very good movie, different from anything David Fincher usually does (very true), not too this, not too that, bla bla. And I didn't get it, I just didn't. Maybe I should watch it again.

037: The Boondock Saints [Troy Duffy 1999]
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

038: The Quick and the Dead [Sam Raimi 1995]
I always loved this movie. I saw it for the first time when I was a young teenybopper and loved Russell Crowe to bits. For that reason, I have a different kind of relationship to the whole movie. But I think it's quite a good movie on a whole. A bit simple and easy, but I can completely live with that.

039: 27 Dresses [Anne Fletcher 2008]
BLARG.

040: Troy [Wolfgang Petersen 2004]
Oh my goodness why does Hollywood have to do this? One good movie in a specific new genre comes out, and out they spew tons of ridiculous and heartless flicks one after another in hopes of gathering more cash. Brr.

041: The Count of Monte Cristo [Kevin Reynolds 2002]
Nothing is powerful like a good vengeance story. And it warmed my heart to see Richard Harris alive and well, even if for only a little bit. I really disliked James Caviezel who played Monte Cristo, but Guy Pierce was really great.

042: Night at the Museum [Shawn Levy 2006]
Sooo bad. Trying hard to be Jumanji and failing. But it's always fun to see that gang of actors having fun together. After all, they do have some pearls in their resumés.

043: 300 [Zack Snyder 2006]
A million times too pompous, huge and epic than I ever liked. I understand that is exactly the point, but for my liking, it was way over the top.

044: Simpsons: The Movie [David Silverman 2007]
Very funny. True to itself. Sarcastic. Loved it.
