However, the imposed restrictions during the pandemic significantly amplified the need and motivation for both businesses and consumers to utilize digital tools across all sectors including the sectors of bioeconomy. The agricultural and food production sectors have a predominant role in the bioeconomy of the European Union (EU), followed by wood production. These sectors make significant contributions not only to national economies but also to rural areas. Consequently, the digitalization of businesses within the bioeconomy sector not only transforms the enterprises and value chains themselves but also benefits the rural communities in which these enterprises are situated. This study aims to assess the barriers of the bioeconomy sector and ways to support digital transformation within this sector. The paper analyses bioeconomy in EU and the state of digitali...

Migration movements affect many economic variables such as human capital, demand, supply, the balance of payments, income distribution, wage level, and national income. The literature on migration is often studied in the economic, political and security fields. This study focuses on the relationship of migration with economic growth. There are studies that determine two-way causality in the relationship between economic growth and migration. It is seen that the country groups specified here can explain these different results. In this study, our purpose is to investigate whether international migration affects the economic growth of the receiving country. Therefore, the actual relationship between migration and the eco- nomic growth rate in terms of economic size using 14 similar European Union countries and Turkey for the period 1978-2019 (with pa...

The more the similar features become apparent under globalisation, the more people tend to show their local distinctions. At the same time, a distinctive feature caused by causal relationships may be observed as well: owing to the interaction of the mentioned trends, favourable conditions emerge for the development of small entrepreneurship and crafts. The authors conducted a survey of young individuals (aged 15-24) in Poland (n=200), Lithuania (n=100) and Latvia (n=174) and came to a conclusion that the demand for the instrumental value of cultural heritage might be assumed as one of the factors promoting small entrepreneurship and crafts, to a greater or smaller extent, in all the countries involved in the present research.

The case study is based on Polish students studying in the British higher education system (UK HE) and the paper examines these students’ choices and their decision-making process when selecting their university studies. The literature review suggests that there are two types of factors influencing students’ decision- making process: push factors, which operate within the home country, and pull factors, meaning that students are attracted by the host country and encouraged to study there. Polish students constitute a significant group of EU students who study in the UK and yet there are very few studies on this particular group. The results from this qualitative research on Polish students studying in a selected British university indicate that, contrary to a number of other studies, pull factors could be more important in influencing Polish students’ decision-making proc...

The stationary analyses of variables were examined by the ADF and PP tests. According to the results of a cointegration test, a cointegration relation among the real effective exchange rate, food and live animal exports, as well as industrial production was determined. It was also concluded that the real effective exchange rate has a long-term negative impact on Poland's food and live animal exports. This research also established that a 1% increase in the real effective exchange rate in the long-term would decrease Poland's food and animal exports by 3.091%. Also, industrial production has a positive impact on Poland’s food and animal exports, as expected. It was determined that a 1% increase in industrial production would increase Poland’s food and animal exports by 2.803%. On the other hand, the error...
