01:Harmony
Goujun was enchanted by the harmony between Konzen and Tenpou.

02:Manners
At the great dinner, he told himself the only reason he watched them so closely was to copy their manners.

03:Sync
With Tenpou under his command, Goujun had acquired brains, and bureacratic backup which worked with the military, not against it.

04:Focus
Whenever there was an itch at the back of his neck, Tenpou knew there was a pair of predatory, red eyes focused on him.

05:Leap
Despite all royal and dragonly dignity, Goujun kept his muscles tensed for a jump as Tenpou explained the contraption pistol to Konzen.

06:Park
The sea dragon told Konzen Douji, “In all the great flower gardens of Heaven, there's no water not curbed and channelled and broken.”

07:Ride
Courting these two dangerous, young gods was in some way like riding the giant storm winds of the open sea.

08:Cotton
The first time Konzen touched Goujun was from the unromantic need to hold cotton wool to Goujun's bleeding nose.

09:Candy
Tenpou insisted on a physical, the doctor insisted on bed rest, Kanzeon Bosatsu insisted on sitting on Goujun's bed and eating most of his candy.

10:Frosting
Goujun didn't understand why, when his two kami heard he was fighting someone for insulting them, they suddenly gave him the cold shoulder.

11:Hair
Even estranged, one thing united him and Tenpou, dissuading Konzen from cutting his hair.

12:Hold
Even estranged, Tenpou and Konzen wouldn't allow Goujun to be held responsible for a kami's mistake.

13:Picture
They made such a harmonious picture, under the cherry trees, that Goujun thought there no room for him.

14:Movie
Many lifetimes later, when he'd forgotten nearly everything, he remembered this loss isn't soft focus and soft strings, as it is in the movies.

15:Music
Looking up, Tenpou asked Goujun if he didn't think they could play more complex, richer music on three instruments than two.

16:Paradise
Grudgingly, Goujun admitted Paradise had its good points.

17:Garden
Against impeccable evergreens, the Emperor's rose gardens were perfectly arranged and maintained, which meant a gardener in every romantic nook.

18:Feather
As Tenpou's mellow voice explained the term 'feathering your nest', Goujun realised the scaleless flunky had been trying to bribe him.

19:Cloud
For the rest of the day, Goujun carried a small, personalised thunder cloud around with him.

20:Dust
Goujun folded away, in the finest silk, his tattered, old robe, with a strand of golden hair on the shoulder, and the sleeve with cigarette ash.

21:Wedding
As his subordinate, Tenpou had to attend Goujun's arranged wedding, so Konzen went to support him.

22:Band
The regimental musicians for the wedding must have got their music mixed up, as they seemed to be producing this unhappy, unpleasant music on purpose.

23:Play
When 'requested' to play go with Kanzeon Bosatsu, Konzen thought it would be more of a change if Se stopped playing with them.

24:Time
Goujun spent the hours he should with his beautiful, new wife, and long hours they were, too.

25:Spend
Konzen's pen lingered over a certain sheet of accounts; it would be so easy to make serious trouble with a couple of transposed numbers.

26:Worship
Goujun still believed he had no choice, with the obedience he owed his ancestors.

27:Life
Dragons live a long time, and Goujun wasn't looking forward to it.

28:Pray
Tenpou wanted the mortals to stop praying at him, and actually tell him where the monsters were.

29:Knees
He walked over to the only mortal not on his knees.

30:Zombie
The guy was still in shock from being so near the monster and no help at all.

31:Skeleton
Tenpou looked at his small troop and decided it wasn't so much a skeleton force as the fingernail parings.

32:Closet
Konzen took from the closet the stiffly layered and embroidered robes he so hated to wear.

33:Space
Tenpou insisted on leading the squad, through the increasingly rough hills, down into the valley where there was no room to dodge, and no place to hide.

34:Coat
The Eastern Army headquarters was run down, the men scruffy and lounging, their coat patches unhidden.

35:Hang
Tenpou wondered how that great slab of rock can hang without falling above that shoulder shaped cliff of rock.

36:Tang
From Goujun's memory, Konzen told him the Tang horse oughtn't to be with the Sung painting.

37:Sour
As he lifted the tightly crumpled military form from behind it, Goujun's keen dragon nose caught his wife's scent, soured by guilt.

38:Grapes
Looking into Hir lotus pool, the Merciful Goddess nearly choked on a grape at the unexpected picture.

39:Palace
Jiroshin scurried often, but no one of all the palace staff had ever before seen him at a flat out run.

40:Maid
A tall, black haired Eastern officer looked at Konzen and his attendants and grinned, “Spare me one of your bridesmaids?”

41:Queen
Then Kenren saw the proud, beautiful face, and wondered if some foreign queen happened to dress like the boring bureaucrats.

42:King
The second half of Tenpou's squad looked down at the tranquillised hill of the successfully distracted monster from the crown of a higher hill.

43:Prince
It turned out very few people had gone near enough to the monster to be eaten; best remembered was an arrogant youkai prince, Gyumaoh.

44:Princess
The man Kenren had just called princess swatted him on the head with his ceremonial fan and snarled, “Get your men going, moron!”

45:Tower
Konzen was about to use physical violence on the obstructive gatekeeper, with Kenren's eager help, but Goujun just towered over the poor engineer.

46:Rescue
Rescuing Tenpou from the monster would have been easier; after all, they couldn't actually behead grateful and adhesive villagers, though Konzen looked quite ready to.

47:Knight
Li Touten hurried to protect the dragon queen from a husband he assured her was murderously angry.

48:Pawn
The Queen of the Western Ocean was such a rewarding pawn, for the moment he shelved his ideas of vat bred tools.

49:Consolation
Just for this night, Tenpou and Konzen wanted to be alone together, so Goujun consoled himself by drinking the Eastern Army's wilder officers under the table and winning most of their gambling pool.

50:Prize
Kanzeon Bosatsu let them have that night; Se couldn't let them have many more.
