50states_spn (original) (raw)

Sorry for this being woefully late. I signed up for the spn-gen-bigbang to do this as a part of its mini bang round, and completely forgot that it was done for this comm too.

Title:

Structurally Unsound
Author: PatriciaTepes (AKA Patricia de Lioncourt at fanfiction.net )
Character(s): Sam, Dean, Castiel, mentions of others, necessary OCs
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: ~10,269 (total, both parts)
Warnings: Violence—no more than a usual episode; light language—again, no more than a usual episode
State: Alabama
Disclaimer: I don't own Supernatural or any related characters. Those belong to Kripke and the CW.
Author's Notes: This is set within Supernatural season 6, somewhere just past The French Mistake. The places mentioned within this story are real, but I've taken some real fictional liberties with them. And the art included was done by the lovelyeyestoowide, as apart of thespn_gen_bigbang. Be sure to check the art out at the link! Also, I'd like to thank my dear friend Kimmi, who not only prompted me this fic for wishlist_fic(of which it is horribly late, sorry), but also beta-ed for me. Thanks so much, dear!
Summary: Set in SPN S6. The Apocalypse is over, and Purgatory is all anyone can talk about since Eve hit the scene. However, Sam and Dean find themselves drawn to the campus of the University of North Alabama where supernatural mischief has students and professors pushing up daisies. Although they first suspect the little girl ghost, Molly, is responsible, they soon find that that's not the case. Instead, the Winchesters find that they are up against an item the subject of some real curiosity, a bottle tree.

This is woefully late. I had actually forgotten about this challenge until I realized that the story I was writing for the SPN-gen-bigbang was originally intended to fulfill this challenge. Well, I hope you enjoy this story set in the community where I grew up in Alabama.

Title: "Frozen Solid"
Author: PatriciaTepes (Patricia de Lioncourt @ fanfiction.net)
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Sam, Dean, mentions of others, necessary OCs
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 6,200
Warnings: Violence—no more than a usual episode—but talk of things much more violent than an episode. Nothing graphically described. Spoilers for Season Seven pre-"Time for a Wedding" episode.
State: Alaska
Disclaimer: I don't own Supernatural or any related characters. Those belong to Kripke and the CW. I also don't own the images used in the banner. The girl's image belongs to http://augenweide81-stock.deviantart.com/
Author's Notes: Okay, so, for those reading this who have found it who are not following the link(s) on the 50 States of SPN LJ, this is in response to their challenge, which was thus: sign up for a state and, using local customs, ghost stories, folklore, atmosphere, etc. write a story of the boys on a hunt in that state. There were two rounds on sign-up in an attempt to fill all 50 states. Alaska was the one I got on the second round (I signed up for, and got, Alabama for the first round. Story to follow.) As for this story, Alaska is my birthstate (I currently live in Alabama). I'm going on memory for descriptions as well as internet research. As for a couple of other things, I'm taking some fictional liberties that I don't believe are too farfetched. Mostly it's just messing with systems that actually exist, and for that, I beg your patience with my choices on how to manipulate those. Also, I've used some real names, but I've fictionalized those things as well. Otherwise, the timeline for this one is set within the current season, set just before "It's Season Seven, Time for a Wedding," episode. Also, I apologize for barely doing any edits. I promise, I'll get back around and do some good ones. "#" denotes a scene break.
Summary: Game hunters in Alaska are being killed, which draws Sam and Dean's attention—much to Dean's chagrin. What starts as a standard hunt might have Sam and Dean freezing to death in the wilds of Alaska before they can complete it.

Title: bless me now, with your fierce tears
Author: orbiting_saturn
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Sam/Dean
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 7247
Warnings: suicidal ideation, non-explicit references to implied underage sexuality, explicit sex acts between adults
State: Ohio
Author's Notes: Written for the 50states_spn challenge. Many thanks to the awesome mods for organizing such a fun challenge! I wrote this as a follow up to my Careless Things 'verse, but it doesn't need to be. Title taken from "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night" by Dylan Thomas.

Summary: For the Winchesters, haunted Ohio is a home away from home.

Title: In the Mountains, There You Feel Free
Author: zempasuchil
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Sam/Dean
Rating: R
Word Count: 10,700
Warnings: Spoilers through 7.10, "Death's Door; language; sexual content
State: Washington
Author's Notes: Thank you so much for organizing this, 13chapters and alwaysenduphere! Sorry this is late! I ended up rushing to finish before hiatus ended, since this is supposed to take place right after 7.10. Further notes on places and lore at the end of the fic.

Summary: Sam and Dean get a call about a logger gone missing in the forests of the Olympic mountains. Sam hopes the fresh air and a case will do Dean some good.

Title: Cry Baby Bridge
Author: Twisted_Slinky
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Sam and Dean
Rating: PG-13
Wordcount: Total ~8200 (divided across 3 parts)
Warnings: Spoilers for early season 7, show-level violence/language, misplaced sanity, poor editing (hee)
State: Mississippi, my birth state
Author’s Notes: Written for the 50 States of Supernatural LJ Challenge. Since part of the challenge is to use local legends and culture in the story, some of the places mentioned are real, like the bridge in Dennis, MS, and the Belmont Hotel; however, they have been fictionalized and altered for the sake of the story. Characters are all completely fictional. This story is set in season 7, loosely sometime, say, after “The Mentalists,” but before “Time for a Wedding.”
Summary: Cry Baby Bridges are a nationwide phenomenon, and usually no more than urban legend, but Sam and Dean get more than they bargained for when they investigate one in small town Mississippi. S7, between “The Mentalists” and “Time for a Wedding.”
Disclaimer: I do not own any rights to Supernatural, and I am not making any profits from this story.

Title: Here Be Dragons
Author: cherie_morte
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Sam/Dean
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 4,657
Warnings: Explicit Sexual Content (Tentacle Porn!) and Language
State: Hawaii
Author's Notes: I'm sure someone claimed Hawaii and did a really respectable job with it, researching legends and plotting casefic and all that good stuff. Yeah, this is not that story. I've never been to Hawaii, I did no research. I am relying entirely on stereotypes about the state and the fact that this fic has no legitimate plot. LALALALA, HOPE YOU GUYS ENJOY.

Summary: Sam cleverly tricks Dean into joining him on a romantic Hawaii getaway. Unfortunately (fortunately?) the kraken hunt he uses to convince Dean to agree to come has some unforeseen side effects. Namely, Sam starts sprouting tentacles.

Title: Lay it all Down 1/10
Author: rosinblackrose5
Rating: NC-17 (for cussing)
Pairing/Characters: Dean/Castiel, Sam, OC
Genre: Angst, Mystery
Wordcount: 15, 286 All together
Kinks: None
Warnings: Violence, swearing, underage drinking
Disclaimer: Don't own it, all characters belong to the CW I'm just temporarily borrowing them.
Notes: This was written for the 50states_spn challenge. I turned it in late by a few hours because I forgot that I had entered it. I'm a horrible person. I wrote this all in 3 days so there are going to be a lot of mistakes. I'm going to go through it later and proofread it I promise. I'm sorry I forgot.
Summary: Dean and Sam head to Colville, Washington for what they thought was a normal case. But what they find there changes everything.

Hi, just sneaking under the wire here in the central time zone. Fic is on my DW fic account as I don't post fic on LJ anymore.

Title: The Ghost of Colonel Shalor Eldridge
Author: ladyoneill better known as Lara
Disclaimer: I don't own Supernatural or the boys or Lawrence, though I do live in the latter.
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Dean and Sam
Rating: PG13
Word Count: 2825
Warnings: a bit of language, angst
State: Kansas
Author's Notes: I still can't believe no one else chose Kansas. This is probably Lawrence's most famous ghost story though there's a lot of differing stories about what haunts the hotel. I went with the belief that it is haunted by Eldridge's ghost. I couldn't find where he's buried so I went with the unkempt of the two local cemeteries--taken over by the city a few years back as the owners really had let it run down. Details of Lawrence are accurate as I've spent nearly all of my numerous years there, having been born there just like the boys. :)
Summary: Set a few weeks after "The Song Remains The Same" Sam comes across some reports of a ghost killing hotel residents in Lawrence. Dean resists returning home, especially so soon after seeing their young parents, but Sam persists and they deal with a few other issues as well as the ghost.
