6th Annual Blessings for Badges (original) (raw)
For the sixth year in a row, a group of volunteers are coming together to help feed every first responder who must work on Thanksgiving Day in Sussex and Kent Counties in Delaware.
Blessings for Badges relies on donations from local restaurants and grocery stores as well as Ladies Auxiliaries from local fire companies.
In Sussex County, volunteers will gather Wednesday night at the Millsboro Fire Company at 6 pm to prepare the meal, and again at 9 am on Thursday morning to plate meals and then deliver to police stations, fire companies, rescue personnel and prisons.
In Kent County, volunteers will gather Wednesday night at 5:30 pm at the Leipsic Volunteer Fire Company and 9:30 am on Thursday.
Every box contains handmade thank you notes from children in the county. It also contains individual hot meals featuring Mountaire chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, macaroni and cheese, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, rolls/muffins, and pies for dessert.
