Plangman, an “Apple II-inspired Hangman platformer” described as “Wheel of Fortune meets Lode Runner”, is now available on Steam.

Originally released on itch.io in 2015, Plangman is a computer game available for Mac, Windows, and Linux. Using monochromatic graphics and a protagonist who looks lifted out of Olympic Decathlon, the game challenges players to find and select letters to form words, literally spelling out Plangman’s narrative.

Plangman is free on both Steam and itch.io and features dozens of levels, a level editor, a two-player mode, and more. The soundtrack is available for a minimum purchase of US$3.99. A basic version of the game can be played online in a Web browser at itch.io.

Plangman developer Ehren von Lehe was a guest on my IndieSider podcast back in 2016, at which time we discussed the game’s Apple II inspirations, why he provided a complete walkthrough for his own game, and why he initially released it on itch instead of Steam.
