Man arrested after hourslong SWAT standoff in Boyle Heights neighborhood (original) (raw)

BOYLE HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A Boyle Heights neighborhood was on lockdown due to an hourslong SWAT standoff on Saturday night.
Video from the Citizen App showed several streets blocked off by Los Angeles Police Department patrol units and SWAT BearCats.
Several Eyewitness News viewers reached out about the large police presence on Wabash Avenue.
LAPD said it all started just after 5 p.m. on Saturday when a 26-year-old man barricaded himself inside an apartment and refused to come out.
Police described the man as a restraining order suspect. He was reportedly refusing to come outside and refusing all officer commands.
SWAT was called to the scene, and the man was taken into custody just before 11 p.m., according to LAPD.
Authorities said no injuries were reported.
