The film No Woman, No Cry which was directed by Christy Turlington Burns. The film shines light on the fact t hat due to substandard maternal healthcare worldwide, "more than 500,000 women die each year during childbirth—and that 90 percent of these deaths are preventable." (EMC)
The film airs tomorrow night (5-7-2011) on the Oprah Winfrey Network at 9:30 EST, and there are several ways to get involved beyond just tuning in. One way is to join or host a Watch Party .

Well my friends, its that time of year again. Blogathon time! What is blogathon you ask? I was at the Dollar Tree yesterday and found The Great Silent Grandmother Gathering. It looked interesting so I went ahead and bought it, and last night before bed I read the entire thing. Not only the story, but the story behind the story.
This is one of the most beautiful books I have ever read!
It's the story of how two grandmothers decide to change the world by going to the park and "Not speaking. Not looking at squirrels. Not munching on coconut candy. In actual point of fact, not anything at all." Soon the whole town is talking about them, then the nation, and soon the world.
It's an excellent book filled with a powerful message and I really feel that everyone should read it and share it with their children, friends, and family.
