Purpose. The purpose of the paper is to define the place and the role of the Information Literacy teaching courses organized at academic libraries to instruct the students to perceive the curricula included into academic programs, and reviews the issues related with the teaching of these types of courses within the institutional framework in order to enhance and optimize the library-information services to community members, to stay abreast with the requirements of the modern era and to arm the library users with necessary information searching methods and tools.
Design / methodology / approach. Main part of the research conveys the generalized experiences covered in related literature and open source materials, statistics retrieved from annual reports of the ADA University Library, and also conclusions derived from communications with field librarians. On the course of the research it is concluded that only one library and/or the librarian is not enough to carry out the task of teaching information literacy to students and sometimes to Faculty. All librarians should be involved in these library activities through self-development and lifelong learning.
Research limitations / implications. Comparing the results of the Information Literacy activities in local environment would enrich the research output, but unfortunately this type of activity is not widely spread in academic libraries of Azerbaijan. Further implementation and application of the results of the current study is recommended.
Originality / value. In terms of describing Information Literacy activities in Azerbaijan, it would be interesting source for librarians and information professionals. This papers also provides valuable sources of information on basic skills and knowledge required to understand the essence of Information Literacy.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to comparatively study the library and information services provided by three academic libraries – Baku State University Scientific Library, ADA University Library and Information Services and Khazar University Library and Information Center – located in Baku, Azerbaijan. Various types of library services are examined in terms of funding, acquisition and technical equipment support issues. Also, different subordination conditions (public/private) of the universities help to better understand the current position of academic libraries in different entities.

Design/methodology/approach
Most part of the conveyed information was obtained through review of related literature, libraries’ annual reports and personal communication with the directors of the academic libraries, to look for similarities and differences in provided library and information services. The results of the study are comparatively described through multiple tables and charts.

Findings
For improving services it is necessary to develop paid forms of library and information services, maintain various training possibilities for library staff in modern librarianship areas, increase the variety and number of public and outreach activities.

Research limitations/implications
As the findings of the paper suggest new forms of library services and activities, it is necessary to continue the topic in further studies to develop practical methods and applications for local library conditions.

Originality/value
The paper can be accepted as the first comparative study of the library information services in academic libraries of Azerbaijan, which gives general overview and analysis of separate service ranges and types. The researchers interested in Azerbaijani librarianship may find it practical.

А также рассматриваются такие процессы как оценка запросов пользователей при разработки коллекции, изучение и выбор информационных ресурсов, определение источников комплектования, анализ употребляемости текущего библиотечного фонда, управление бюджетом и финансовыми ресурсами, новые методы и способы комплектовании, в том числе профессиональная компетентность библиотекарей, в прямую обязанность которых входит работа с библиотечным фондом.

On the other hand, the broad utilization of the modern Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and techniques can enhances information services provided and boost libraries with unseen opportunities.
This discussion explores the intersection of two pivotal areas: "SDGs and Libraries" and "AI and Libraries". It delves into how libraries can harness the power of AI to drive progress towards achieving the SDGs.

Purpose. The purpose of the paper is to study how service design is developed and implemented in academic libraries in order to meet the requirements of the university community in their educational, research and/or personal activities.
Methodology. The author aims to bring clarification to modern concepts, such as design thinking principles, process and methods to make them more understandable for the readers, and describe planning stages of the services design in academic libraries. The paper was compiled based on related literature review, observations, and findings from case studies.
Findings. Detailed services design planning allows the libraries to foresee all possible difficulties and shortcomings of the planned library services, and thus sidestep these problems by considering all conditions in the initial stage. The primary goal of the services design activity in academic libraries is mostly connected to meeting library and information needs of the university community, and creating new library services for all situations (such as the current pandemic) that might be in great demand by library patrons, though they might not even realize it. Therefore, a special and in-depth study of the user behavior and feedback in certain library services is essential in terms of understanding patrons’ requirements, and developing more innovative user-centered services for them.
Originality/value. The services design process and design thinking principles and methods are broadly discussed topics in modern librarianship, which make this paper competitive enough to analyze different points of views and find out one can be applicable in certain circumstances and/or environments. In this regard, the suggested tools and techniques can be practical for most young library specialists working in public services units of academic libraries.
