But the absence of provision for elected local bodies at village and block levels in the areas under TTAADC was a factor preventing development at grass-root level. Therefore, it was devised to provide for separate elections to Village Committees, an alternative to the three tiers Panchayat in the District Council areas. These committees correspond to the Gram Panchayats of the non-ADC area. This paper examines the role of democratic decentralization in the context of Tripura in promoting higher empowerment of the disadvantaged with special reference to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). The paper argues that democratic decentralization, as seen from the experiences of the TTAADC, facilitates higher empowerment of the indigenous populace especially women in the political, economic, educational and social context.

This unabated influx is still continuing into the small state of North-East India. The study emphasized on push-pull factors of illegal Bangladeshi migration (after 25th march of 1971) into the state and also to find out the religious nexus with push-pull factors of migration. Purposively total 64 snowball samples have been taken from Shipahijala district having border share with Bangladesh. Total eight factors have been surveyed with multiple response method. Thereafter, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) Method has been applied in order to classify push-pull factors. The result explored that both push and pull factors, like inadequate employment opportunity in Bangladesh, religious persecution in Bangladesh and ethnic similarity in Tripura etc., are significantly influenced migration in the study area. In order to find out the religious association with push-pull factors a Binary Logistic Regression model has been employed. The model examined that only push factors (both economic and socio-political) have significant association with religion of respondents. The pull factors are not significantly associated with the religion of respondents.

living standard of tribal population in rural areas of the north-east region of India. The study stands on secondary data source namely
census report 2011. The principal component analysis (PCA) method was deployed to analyse the data and deal with the objectives
of the study. The study found that the North-East region as a whole belonged to the medium category in terms of living standard of
tribal households. Mizoram ranked top among the north-eastern states by securing the highest living standard of Mizo tribes while
Assam scored the lowest living standard of tribal communities.

The study is also an attempt to identify the present livelihood pattern of surveyed households. The study stands on stratified multi-stage random sampling with the sample size of 105. A binary logistic model has been employed to deal with the objectives of the study. The empirical analysis found that agricultural activities are more popular among Kuki households. The logistic model revealed that age and gender of the head of the household significantly determine the livelihood option. Economic factors like land-man ratio, indebtedness and type of ration card are found significant with regards to the choice of livelihood. The model also explored that few basic infrastructures like availability of proper irrigation facility, good condition of the local road also significantly determine the choice of livelihood among Kuki tribes.

Ranging from monarchy periods to Bangladesh Liberation war; huge uncontrolled influx of Bengali population from erstwhile East Bengal and illegal migration of post 1971 causes to being outnumbered of indigenous peoples into their own state. The study tries to assess role of migration behind movement. The study based on secondary data with both qualitative and quantitative methods. The study found that, proportion of tribal has been declined from 52 per cent to 31 per cent in 2011. Today only 4 per cent of tribal households have any member as government employee. It indicates participation of Tribal’s in government job. Less than 3 percent of tribal households have any member earning more than 10 thousand rupees per month. Prolonged political dominancy of same party in both state and district council (TTAADC) has been overlapping with constitutional provisions. That is why, ill-fated tribal peoples cannot even write their mother language (KOKBOROK) through their preferred script rather than script of largest ethnic group i.e. Bengali script. Therefore, educated tribal youths have started a socio-political movement in order to form a separate state, namely TIPRALAND, covering entire ADC areas.

The study also tried to analyse the effect of the scheme over the expenditure on food and education for children’s. The comparative study stands on stratified multistage random sampling with total 218 agricultural labourers (sample size) and above this 109 agricultural labourers were selected from beneficiary (MGNREGS) households and rests of the samples were from non-beneficiary counterparts. To deal with these objectives, a standard of living index (SLI) has
been constructed by applying principal component analysis method and statistical tools t-test also has been done. According to the constructed standard of living index, the living standard of beneficiary agricultural labourers was found far better than their counterparts. Moreover, the differences over the expenditure on food and children’s education between two comparative groups were also found significant.

Although, both state governments are committed to detect and deport Bangladeshi Immigrants as per 'Assam Accord' and 'ATTF Accord' respectively, yet still these states are suffering for the problem. The paper is an attempt to study the extent of illegal migration and its effect on politics in two states. Since inception of the problem Assam always remained sounds but surprisingly, despite of having commitments in peace accord, Tripura is completely silent. In case of Assam, illegal immigrants became the determinant factor in politics. They are capable to influence 32 percent of assembly constituencies in Assam. Honorable Gauhati high court also treated them as 'king maker' of Assam. The uncontrolled influx from Bangladesh to Tripura causes huge demographic changes in Tripura; a predominantly tribal state became non-tribal state. Few years ago, a person associated with Islamic terrorist organization (HUJI) entered into the state and got national citizenship through government officials. This issue got its deep root with the resignation of a Minister. Moreover, it leaves an adverse effect in politics of Assam and Tripura.
