Bullying has adverse and enduring effects on children's socio-emotional development. Bullying prevention is crucial to children's adjustment in school environment, promotion of their safety and well-being. Within this framework, the present study aims to present the use of interactive digital storytelling in raising awareness of bullying in early childhood settings which is regarded essential to bullying prevention. It describes the design of an interactive digital storytelling scenario, named "Anthoula's Dreams" for screening children's reactions to bullying situations and developing empathy in children. Digital storytelling could be a valuable tool in bullying prevention, as its narrative power can actively engage children in a simulation condition of bullying, stimulates identification with the characters of the story and emotional involvement. The script features a five-year-old girl who receives rejection by her classmates. The scenario is a branching story structured with an interactive plot and its final form will be combined with animation. Children can elaborate on the scenario through the narrative choices of a branching story. The interactive story enables children to participate and affect the plot of the story. The emergence of different options to address the situation lead to different results in the continuum of bullying. The end of the story is not predetermined by the author and the story usually emerges during the narrative. Children are expected to make decisions for the narration evolvement. The content causes emotions which can enhance the cognitive and emotional involvement of preschool children in their interactions with the main character of the story, as they will be forced to make decisions for the narrative to develop. The induction and utilization of emotions facilitates the development of empathy. Children's narrative choices through the story branches are expected to more consistently reflect their own strategies if they were intimidated. They are also required to choose from predefined options of strategies those that will lead to the settlement of the bullying situation. The interactive scenario can enhance the problem-solving skills of

The research was conducted between March to May 2017. Case study was chosen as the main method, employing a questionnaire as the main methodological tool. The research population was the fourth year students of the Department of Preschool Education Sciences and Educational Design of the University of the Aegean in Rhodes (Greece). The sample was selected by random sampling.
The results of this research study indicate that the majority of students consider the "sustainable school" identical to "ecological school" and "bioclimatic school", as they emphasize the infrastructure. It is also noted that the majority of students of the research sample disagrees with the view that a sustainable kindergarten is sometimes governed democratically and sometimes in an authoritarian way. However, the total number of students who express the opposite view or respond that they do not know, are more than half.
Moreover, research data indicate that the majority of students agree with the participation of pupils in decision-making regarding the operation of a sustainable kindergarten. They also agree with the view that the local community participates in the activities-actions of a sustainable kindergarten. However, the percentages of the participants expressing the opposite view or not expressing opinion are very high. In addition, as far as the management of a sustainable kindergarten is concerned, the majority of the respondents state that the role of the head of the kindergarten is dominant, while the role of important agents, such as the students, teachers' association, parents' association and the local community, is underestimated.

General issues and basic processes - Personality Eleni Nikolaou, University of the Aegean, Rhodes - Greece Georgios Markogiannakis, Secondary education teacher, Rhodes - Greece This study aims at examining parenting beliefs about shy children. It is assumed that parents' beliefs about children' s development play a significant role in guiding their responses to child behaviour. It is also acknowledged that shyness is a culturally bound construct. More specifically, this study makes an attempt to investigate the way Greek parents perceive shyness and its components, as well as their causal attributions among other variables. A sample of 107 parents in Rhodes (Greece) were administered a questionnaire designed to assess parental beliefs about shyness. Research data show that the majority of the sample perceive shyness as a lack of sociability and social initiatives. Introversion, fear of rejection, inhibition and passiveness are also included in their conceptualization of shy children's personality traits. Moreover, the majority thinks that family factors play the most significant role in shyness. They attribute shyness to family factors, such as the limited social life of parents, rejective attitude of parents toward their children, overprotectiveness and parental control. Research findings are discussed in relation to the existing literature about shyness definition and its etiological factors. These findings may reflect cultural differences and contribute to the conceptualization of shyness, as this construct has not been studied in Greek society.

An electronic questionnaire was used for the implementation of the research as a means of data collection, due to the period of the research in the midst of a pandemic. The research was conducted in Greece, in Rhodes, during the period between January and March, 2021. The reference population of the research was the approximately 200 first year students of the Department of Preschool Education and Educational Planning of the University of the Aegean in Greece. 142 female students of them completed the questionnaire. The results of the research indicate differences in the views of students between those who exhibit a high degree of concern about Covid-19 and those with a low degree of concern. Regarding the way they are informed, it seems that internet, television, family and friends are preferred by both groups. Students with a low level of concern about Covid-19 seem to be more indifferent than students with a high level of concern who seem to be more afraid, to comply more with the suggested precautions and state that they have "unfolded" some talent during the lockdown period. In general, they are supported by family and their circle of friends, they demonstrate some empathy, they seek security by challenging the general climate of ideology or government services that are malfunctioning. Obviously, the issue of Covid-19, lockdown and digital communication is worth exploring further in relation to the Greek data and the new generation.

The sample of this research study was 116 teachers of primary education. Data were collected by a questionnaire that was based on previous research. The findings show that teachers regard that supporting children, a positive interpersonal relationship with these children, a positive climate in the classroom, cooperation with parents and mental health professionals are among the effective strategies. In relation to the appropriate preventive counseling interventions, they argue that the implementation of socio-emotional programs by teachers in cooperation with mental health professionals, as well as the delivery of mental health prevention programs to all children by mental health specialists are effective strategies. Research findings may be utilized for designing teacher training and professional development programs aiming at supporting children with depression and mental health promotion.

Therefore, effective communication and collaboration between these contexts is essential, although sometimes there are barriers to school-family partnership, particularly when they try to play a more active role in the educational process. It is widely recognized that parent involvement in school has successful contributions to student school outcomes. Moreover, It is crucial for addressing effectively bullying, as it is a problem student behaviour in Greek society as well. In this context, the present research aims to explore teachers' views about family-school communication and collaboration regarding the extent to which they address effectively bullying. 150 primary education teachers from public schools in Rhodes participated in this research, which conducted in 2015. Results show that teachers endorse the importance of school-family collaboration for addressing bullying. In addition, they consider this collaboration important, as it has an important influence on children's attitudes to school, and their behaviour in school environment. Furthermore, they suggest that school-family collaboration may improve students' social skills, which can enhance their emotional development and reduce their social isolation from the peer group. Finally, they assert that school-family collaboration can empower children's relationship with their parents and teachers, and in the long term it can contribute in enhancing their school achievement.

The data collection tool was a questionnaire based on previous research. The results indicate that the teachers of the present study are willing to include students with Autism Spectrum Disorders in their regular class and try to address the related difficulties. The age of the educators and their educational level do not affect their views on the inclusion of children with autism into the regular class. However, their views are influenced by their years of experience, as well as by their previous experience of working with children with autism.

Primary school teachers in Rhodes city were the population of the study. 157 teachers participated in this study, which took place from March to June 2016. The results of this study show that nearly have of the sample doubt about the selflessness of volunteers as well as about the ability of primary school students to plan voluntary actions. As far as the motivations of the volunteers are concerned, they consider that the main motivator behind their actions is their willingness to help and offer. Simultaneously, they state that some volunteers are motivated by other motives such as the acquisition of experiences, and their social recognition. They also state that one of their motives is to enrich their CV. The teachers of this sample consider that teachers' participation in voluntary actions is essential, although they do not always participate in such actions, as most of them have responded that they have not participated in any voluntary action this year. In addition, although they consider very important students' participation in voluntary actions, the do not model volunteering by their example.

Coplan & Arbeau, 2008).

The interactive scenario can enhance the problem-solving skills of the victims and teach children to deal with bullying situations. Moreover, it can be used for changing bystanders’ attitudes and promoting social support from peers, thus making students more likely to intervene and stop bullying. Developing attitudes and skills is a component of raising awareness of bullying. In particular, developing social and emotional understanding and perspective taking skills is related to children's prosocial behaviours and the reduction of victimization. Empathy is the foundation of cooperation conflict resolution, acceptance and tolerance. Digital storytelling could be incorporated into anti-bullying programs, which have been shown to have moderate levels of success as a means of fostering their effectiveness. It could also empower teachers with additional strategies to confront bullying and be used as a counselling tool integrated into interventions directed at increasing prosocial behaviours. This study can contribute to school-based promotion of children's social and emotional competence and school-based prevention efforts of addressing bullying.
